AUST –  Evacuation Planner provided the Principal of Melbourne School Wattle Glen Primary with evacuation diagrams for  all school  buildings under AS 3745-2010 ‘Planning for emergencies in  facilities’. The school had undergone a recent renovation and new building was also erected so the evacuation diagrams did not comply with the provisions of  AS 3745-2010. AS 3745 now requires the Emergency Planning Committee to  nominate a validation date for the evacuation diagrams (that is, the  date upon which the evacuation diagrams must be re-assessed against  potential changes that have occurred to the building or AS 3745-2010). Building owners and tenants should realise that any building  works (even minor works) occurring in the building under a building  approval that affects the information contained on the evacuation  diagram or emergency procedures, requires the evacuation diagram to  be amended and re-issued expeditiously.

The school’s evacuation diagrams must be displayed in a  prominent position near each exit of the premises.
